I just bought a Kenwood TK-3170 and five Kenwood TK-3402U radios and I'm new to 2 way radio stuff. I travel with them and therefore space is at a premium. I also need to charge GoPro cameras, iPhones, iPads, computers, etc, so if I can eliminate as many things as possible that need to plug into a socket, the better because I need to charge all of them at the same time for use the next day.
I'm wondering if I can use a USB "smart" charger instead of the transformers that plug into the wall. I'm assuming I'll still need the charging cradles, but if I can eliminate the cord from that to the wall, it will be easier for me.
I use a Vanbon smart charger with appropriate USB cables for the GoPros and iPhones, and it works very well. Just wondering if something like that would work for the radios. If so, the next problem would be finding the right ends that plug into the charging cradle. BTW I'm in the US if that matters.
I am going to say NO
