Kenwwod Cable question

Post

Have a problem with a Kenwood cable

I ordered an aftermarket cable (mistake?) not a Kenwood one.
I was able to connect and program a TK-7302H but when I tried a TK-7102H I got an error.
Check Connection.
I looked at the cable and noticed that the RJ-45 is a 6 lead and the radio is a 8 lead.
I am not sure how the TK-7302H lined up right but it did.
Does anyone know what spacing I need if I change the end of the plug.
I have been looking in manual but have not figured it out.
Thanks
Dave

sounds like you ordered a KPG-4 you need a KPG-46 i found that sometimes it will work when put in just right  but more often that not it won't. It will be easier to order a new cable some i think

Thanks for the answers.
I was going to try a new end on the cable but I think I will be further ahead to order a KPG-46 as recommended.
The cable I ordered had the radios that I need to program listed.  I am making sure the new connector is a 8 pin version.

Thanks again
Dave

I will post again when the new cable comes in or if I find something else that works….

Hey the new cable came in.
8 pin.
Tried it with the TK-7302H and worked fine.
Tried the TK-7102H and still got the same error.
Check connection.
I am using KPG-70DN.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong????

Thanks
Dave

The KPG70DN lists the tk-7102h Kenwood KPG-70DN FPU (V3.12) Programming Software - HamFiles

I used KPG-124D for the TK-7302h Kenwood KPG-124DN FPU (v1.3) Programming Software - HamFiles

Is there another program for the tk-7102h or a different country code?
Thanks

I will try to find another driver.
I thought that all was good when I could read one Kenwood radio and it would work with other models.

The cable story continues.
I reinstalled the latest driver I could find and I still could not connect to the TK-7102H Chirp said the radio would not enter program mode the TK-7302H still works fine.
So do I need to order another cable? This time a FTDI?
Thanks
