Need help with Motorola MCS2000 cable

Post

Hello,

I have got a used Motorola MCS2000 model III radio, but I'm currently lost, because I'm not sure how to program it. Should I buy a RIB then RS232 to USB converted or should I do a RIB myself? Thank You in advance!

Karolis.

You will defiantly need a Rib , ive had no problems with the Cheap Chinese ones on ebay, and  less issues with a serial port if you have one

Maybe you could post the details of the Cable, as im yet to see a Ribless Cable That works on an MCS2000,  Some Cables with FTDI chipsets can be an absolute Nightmare
Cheers

Cheers For the Info, would be really beneficial to members if you could comeback and tell us how it performs, once it arrives,
and What drivers are required ie Prolific  ftdi etc, as not stated in the add ,and if it Does actually work ,
it would appear after going through 30 pages of his Feedback your Possibly the First to buy one
Cheers and Best of Luck

cheep ribs work great you can program radio through front mic connection. but if you need to align or tune radio you need to build programming cord for the 25 pin on the bottom of the radio. but you will need mcs-software noted below. just make shure you run it on a old computer like win 95 something with real DOS.
 MOTOROLA
MCS2000
Radio Service Software
RVN4113E Version R04.00.00
15 Nov 96
Disk 1 of 2
Disk 2 of 2
After installation please read the "README.TXT"
file before using software
