Hi, trying to programme an ICOM IC-M73. Using CS-M73 software on a Windows PC, got the OPC-478UC cable and a link from that to the mic plug. Selected the correct Com port, radio is on but the software says "cannot access com port". Do I need to set up the radio in some way to recognise the comms? (I remember having to do this on a different ICOM radio)  Any other suggestions? Thanks

Hi, no not yet. My cable works correctly on an M71 so, like you, I know the cable is good.  On this new M73, using the software Revision 1.0, it will not work. However, I have discovered the following which may give a clue:-

With the radio connected and turned on if I select "clone" I get the message "No answer from transceiver….."

But, if I press any button on the radio and then instantly select "clone" I get the message "Connected transceiver is not compatible model. Check:-
- Appropriate cloning software.
- The revision number of the transceiver."

So, I have managed to get the software to at least get an answer from the radio. Try this on yours? If I have now discovered what is needed to start the communication, I have a compatibility problem. Could this be the product number entered is not the correct one? what number did you enter into the software?

Are you using the OPC-922 cloning adaptor?

Yes, but a DIY one, as used when successfully cloning an M71. I used the 4-pin plug from a fist mic that i never used. Connections as shown attached picture:- Clone cable connections for ICOM M73 (cable part number = OPC-922).docx - Google Документи

Nop….

A ting strange with mine is that the chanel list is diferent in the 2 radios the new one have extra chanels like chanel 19, 19a and 19d. the old one just the 19 and the same for other chanels. in the new one the subtitle under the chanel is not shown like in the old one. doesnt make much sense to me that 2 radios same model have diferent firmwares.
