Programming Issue

Hi I have a problem with not being able to get some radios to communicate with one another.

I have programmed in 8 analog simplex frequencies in one of the zones, only channel 1 will work on RX & TX.

The frequencies are different on all 8 channels but despite that I get the same frequency that is programmed into channel 1 across all 8 channels RX and TX.

I have looked at the settings in the programming software and have checked my RX group lists and I have tried different things like unchecking the RX group lists and some other things but I still get the same issue.

I've never had this problem before when programming radios.

Can anybody help with this?

hi.
sometimes it would be helpfull to know, wich radio you are talking about ;)
buuut…
i have had such trouble with motorola gp380 and i figured out, there is difference of +250kHz from receive to transmit-frequency.
that time i didnīt now WHY the ****?!
so far, the simplyest way to fix that foult, is to add 250kHz on transmitting-frequency.
just for sure, if my translation is confusing:
for example, prog-soft-field tx: 433.000 MHz,
rx needs to be set: 433.250 MHz
…meanwhile i know this was caused by previous owner by updating/changing codeplug-version,
without saving and restoring the tuner-settings.

The radios I'm having trouble with are the Hytera radios the PD785 & the PD705 LT both radios have the exact same problem so its got to be something in the programming software.

I programmed in the PMR446 frequencies on both radios in one zone and in another zone I have 70cm simplex channels too and in another zone I have repeaters programmed in. Its the same in each zone I will only get one channel in each zone across all channels in each zone, so for example I'll get 446.00625 across all 8 PMR channels in zone 1 or 433.4000 across all channels in zone 2.

The zones are set up and the channels are assigned the the said zones. I just can't figure out whats going on.

Before you did your programming did you do a read from radio to get the previous settings and then save that and create a new file from that to do your programming from?

eehh, who? me?
how ever, if i got a new or used radio, first i read itīs settings/channels/… and save them. then, i change what i like to, save this under new name and after that i feed the radio.

With the original programming that was in the  radio does that same issue still exist?

…depending to my GP380, yes.
but i got it used and so there was nothing original.
the previous owner made a codeplug-version-update.
in that case, so i read about, its necessary to read the radios settings with the tuner-soft and save them, before the codeplug-update. after this, restore the settings with the tuner-soft.
i never made such updates, as i never needed to do. for what? if everything runs fine, do not change it.

Agreed. If it is not broken don't fix it lol. I was more trying to get a bit more info from the original poster to see if we could not help him get his rig up and running but it appears that maybe he is not monitoring this feed any longer.

The issue never existed before the radios were reprogrammed, however I could not read from the radios to save the original codeplug because the old codeplug was password protected so I had no option but to reset the radios and start from scratch.

Ok next question is what kind of radios are we dealing with. The programming radio to radio differs substantially so to try and guide you through without being able to pull up the programming is difficult. As well which program version are you using so if I don't have it I can download it to try to help you out??

Thanks for helping its always appreciated. The radios are Hytera PD785 and the Hytera PD705 LT I use the same programming software for both.

My firmware version is A7.06.06.000

The CPS I'm using is V7.06.02.006

Found this link which shows all the factory settings in the radio. not sure if it will help you or not but it goes tab by tab through the programming

I managed to get the 70cms analog simplex frequencies sorted out in zone 1 and in zone 2 the analog repeater channels are now working correctly.

The PMR 446 channels in zone 3 are not working correctly I think this is because the PD7xx series radios do not support 6.25 KHz channels, I know there is some tuner software that may resolve that problem or possibly a newer firmware and CPS might solve the problem. I have seen other people put those PMR446 frequencies into those sets so there must be a way.

The digital simplex frequencies I've been unable to test, as my frequency counter doesn't like digital signals.

The DMR repeater channels are not working correctly I can only receive 2 talk groups even though I've got lots of talk groups programmed into the radio and are also set in my scan list, I set the radio to scan but it will only pick up 2 talk groups and only one channel will receive with TG235 that's all I get.

Thanks for the link above I will have a look at it I may have already read it. I've read quite a few programming guides.

Update… I got it all sorted out and both radios are working as they should I had to delete the PMR446 channels off the radios, there 12.5KHz in PMR446. It would appear that Hytera has been very smart and had done something so that license free PMR channels can not be programmed into these handsets, the same would happen if you were to put FRS frequencies into the American versions. There is a trick to get PMR446 frequencies on to these handsets but I don't know it so I'll just be sticking to U.K 70cms frequencies for these handsets.

Congrats. Glad to hear it is all working for you. There is nothing more frustrating than a rig that is not doing what we think it should.
