Programming Motorola GM340

Post

Can anyone help me with programming a GM340, I have a rib box and have made a lead to plug into the radio mic socket , the only program I can find in the downloads section is for the GM300 but does say it supports the GM340. When I try to read the radio it shows it does not support this radio. Thank you.

R03.11.09 June2010 I believe, have been abroad for a few Months so might take me a while to get up to speed again, hope this helps

HI 03:11:16 was the final release that was produced by Motorola, this supports up to V8 codeplugs.

Keep In mind that if your using any RSS software it's not reverse compatible, meaning if your using a R03:11:16 and you revert back to the R03.11.09 won't work. vice versa …..best to use the latest Revision. Thanks

I realise I am behind the times but I have acquired a pair of GM340 radios for use in an amateur multimode digital repeater. I thought the easy bit would be programming the radios. How wrong I was.

I have the latest version of the CPS (.16) and when I run it I get "coouldn't open port check RIB….". If I use ComTool it connects to the radio and displays the radio information and creates a text file with the details.
I am using a USB cable bought as a GM340 programming cable. The PC is a 64bit machine with Win10. I realise that some will say I should be running an older machine with XP but I can only use what I have.
Can anyone help so that my GM340s do not become doorstops?

I use
Professional GP300/GM300 Series CPS
Version 03.11.15, 12.09.2010

and it works fine on Win7 64bits with USB cable

Do not forget to check COM ports in device manager and in CPS software.

Yes Mate. Its true. Much better its using older version of widows. I used first Win 98 SE but now I do with Win 2000.
Its slower Reed/Write accurate required. Im sure You know but to inform only: after setting frequency etc. Important
on window CPS on top click on field  VIEW /Invalid Field.
Trust me its very helpful.
