I have the same problem. I program through uniprog 2. I can read from the radio but nothing can write to it. After repeated attempts sometimes the radio can be saved but very rarely. So about once every fifty times. To start, try to run the program in compatibility mode in Win 95 or Win98. Tomorrow I will see with a colleague who programming without problem and compare my hardware to mine.
Regards!

Sorry for my english because i am writing using google translator.

I did not take pictures with which computers can program vx-180 but I will write them.

Dell Laptop 630
RS232 connector
Uniprog programmer
Windows XP Ver.2002 service pack 3
CE51 Ver.2.00w
Reads Yes
Record Yes

Dell 1555 Laptop
ExpressCard-34 / 54MM to RS232
Uniprog programmer
Windows 10 pro
CE51 Ver.2.00w
Reads Yes
Record No

Dell Latitude C610 Laptop
RS232 connector
Uniprog programmer
Windows XP Ver.2002 service pack 3
CE51 Ver.2.00w
Reads Yes
Record No

And two desktops with RS232. One with XP and the other with 95.
Record and read no problem

I think the problem is in the voltage levels on the RS232 connector
Write speed in all cases 9600.
CE51

Ce51 version 2.00w and 4.02 work in all cases.
I will write something new.

Hi!
Im using a prolific cable, wich is a usb directly from desktop to radio (mini jack obviously).
The driver is ok in device manager, in fact, i usually program otrers radios (baofeng, Kenwood…)
I dont use a serial port. Maybe this is important.
Thanks for helping!!!

hi friend i think you should consider using serial no issue at all.ftdi cable is the better one .so you can get one

i use serial cable.but if i cannot get serial i will buy ftdi cable or if is something i can make then i will do that:thumbs:

Ok, So I will try to get a serial cable.
Anyway, Do you think i am using the appropiate software? The walkie is a VX180EV but when I open the soft CE51 v 4.02w I can read "product type VX180E" instead VX180EV.

Thanks

from what i read yes .if it is that particular model make sure you take note of the right model radio. to work with the right software ok.if you dont you will have issue check on you os system .that can be another issue .if you try the other version and you get the same result ,that mean you are doing something wrongl:thumbs:

From what I understood, there is two softwares version, one for europe, and an other one for us.
VX-180E require CE-51 (European)
VX-180 require CE-44 (US)

The last letter V stands for VHF, or U for UHF.

I will also try with a serial cable.
