Hay. I have in mind to try and do the samething with my KG-UV9P using a old laptop with Win7 Ultimate. I have busy so I have not done it yet. Prob. this week or next week. The individual who already posed their issue used a RT cable and just because their's worked does not mean yours will. I would suggest using a Wouxun Programming cable. Also do not confuse a Baofeng UV-9P with a Wouxun KG-UV9P. They are very different radio's. I would also suggest only expanding the Rx range. And do so only in small step(s). What I have learned is that it does no good to try and talk to someone if you can not hear them. My point being that it is better to listen and than to talk. Also by changing the Tx range you could really end up interfering with equipment and individual(s) in way(s) that you may not realize and understand. So, work on expanding the Rx range first in small step(s) and as I said try using a official Wouxun cable. It is sometimes referred to as a "Red" Wouxun programming cable. I have noticed that the radio picks up more static when I hold it. That means several different thing(s). But consider that when using it. Also the "A" radio Rx just a little bit better than the "B" radio. When you charge it up make sire you put it in the cradle correctly. Be careful of resenting. It is a bobbly trap if you ask me. Do not reset to factory setting(s) only to VFO. I would also suggest that you get a RT programming kit anyway. Save any setting(s) and programming first before going to far with expanding the RX (or even the Tx). If you look on your box notice on the UPC/ID tracking sticker on the original box and it states a different frequency range than what and how your radio came. And you may loose some of the functionality of the radio if you reset to factory setting(s). Factory setting(s) are the ALL selection of the reset. There should have been a warning about all of this in the manual and/or insert but I am willing to bet there is/was none sent out in any of them. Meaning that the radio has been bobby trapped intwo way(s). One in aspects to the program. The other in aspects to the battery. The programming issue is/was to generate more money for the retailer (to reprogram) and the battery is/was to generate more money for the actual Wouxun company. it self by causing the battery to go bad right after the warranty and then causing you to need to buy another battery. If you or the other(s) KG-UV9P user(s) (BoostMasterK) need some help let me know.
