There are 2 passwords you can enable.
Read.
Write.
The read password has been set by the person who programmed them.
Can you overwrite the codeplug using a default file for the same model radio?
You may need to upgrade the radios to a firmware version to match the default file.

I also have the same problem Read/Write password protection.

You can try 88888888 which is a default password. It didn't work for me but worth a try.

Hi timfrangopulo. Thanks for your reply.

I currently have A3.05.10.001 firmware on the radio which a PD785. I've not been able to find any firmware that's older I can only find V7.06..03.400 IM firmware.

Then do the reverse first try cps version 9 00 09 200 see if that lets you in or if not upgrade the firmware to a version that matches that cps check out the dutch site that has a load of these listed…..

Hi, thanks for the info. I've downloaded the Firmware V7.06.03.400 IM but it says it can only be upgraded from firmware versions 5.

will I need to upgrade to firmware version 5 first?

Yes It appears to be a step by step process but each time you update the firmware try the latest cps

I have checked every where and the strange thing is that the firmware you have in your unit appears to be for the RDx repeater units, I can find no mention of it in relation to the PD7x series I am wondering if a previous owner has tried to unlock it using the incorrect firmware. I shall think
on this some more and get back to you

So far I've tried CPS version 7,8 and 9 and also CPS version 2 but that only supports serial ports unless there is a version 2 USB driver for that CPS so far I've not been able to find any other older CPS versions.

Hi I was just reading your reply again about the firmware on the PD785 being for the RDx units. It could be very possible that the wrong firmware was loaded onto the PD785 by the previous owner unless some PD785 units also used the same firmware as the RDx units.

I've still had no luck in finding the firmware that I need. I was just wondering if there was some kinda restore software for this radio to where I can reset everything back to factory mode wiping all the old data from it without being promoted for a write password?

Version 2 CPS is for PD4xxand below and uses a prolific driver

I figured that out once I had looked at the list of radios it supported.

I was under the impression that Hytera CPS software was for all models when I first started.

As far as I know the earliest CPS for the PD785 are versions 7. I've not yet seen any earlier for the PD7xx series.
