KPG-44D FS (Fire Service)

Post

Hey guys, looking for the kenwood software KPG-44D FS, it's the fire service version of the software for the TK-790H radio.

If someone has it, if you could upload to the site, that would be awesome!  I'm on a volunteer FD and would like to program my own radio.  Also working on getting my HAM license.

Thanks everyone!

I did a little research myself and came up with these details in another radio forum:

You absolutely will need the KPG44D programming software and cable.  Also if it is a California radio, it may have firmware cut specifically for CDF/OES (I wrote it,checksum 1C77, or A93D) and will require a special version of the KPG44D software (v1.11CDF for DOS of KPG44D "FS" for Windows) to program correctly.

So, do you have 'California' radios?

If not, this should do the trick!

I have uploaded it under the Kenwood software category. It should be available once ADMIN validates it.

thank you cash2son!  i'll give it a try!

Nick, sorry, i forgot to respond to your post.

sounded to me like you could only gain access to the wide band and a couple other things on the radio when you use the FS version.  I don't know if that is true or not.  Come to find out, i used the kpg-44d that was already on this site, and i was able to get the radio programmed and all is well.  (there is even an option for wide band)

there is a firmware version (or so i have read) and it will only communicate with the FS version of the software.  so either way, it's nice to have it on the site, should one of us end up with one of those radios, it's already here, so a big thank you to cash2son!

Well done chaps, we now have 2 versions of the KPG-44D RSS and more knowledges than we started with.

Another result for the Hamfiles community, by the community!

Nick, could you please edit the title for this version of the software to specify that it is the "KPG-44D FS" version of the software.  The "FS" specifies that it is for the CDF/Silverado firmware (also erroneously called the "California version") version of this software.  Without the distinction, someone may download the incorrect version for their radio (which I did) and not realize it.

Some of the major differences is that the FS version will add 94 channels, a user-editable command group, and direct-select Operator-Selectable-Tones.  If you try to program with the wrong version, it may look like it worked, but there will be a great likelihood of glitches and operations errors.

I work with these radios every day (the Silverado firmware was designed for my department), so I have a lot of experience programming them.

I have just downloaded this file and it is version 2.02, but when I use it on a radio with a check sum of c177, for a CDF entity, no tones are selected from the right hand up/down arrows, I checked with the old timer's program and it says: version 2.02 FS with a build date of March or April, and the load I have works correctly when loaded with his program, I can select tones with the up/down arrows, but not mine
just trying to get the correct program version.
please let me know as I have wasted 30 points downloading files that say they are correct, but when I install and use them it just doesn't work correctly or the load isn't complete.

So, when you open this program, go to the Help tab on the top drop-down menu…drop down to "About", and what version does the popup say?  It should read like this:

Numerous people have downloaded and used this software without problems (myself included), so I'm not sure why your source is saying this is not Silverado firmware compatible.  Let's see what we can find out…
