GM950 Programming software - R02.00.00

Running the software in VMWARE
As older PC's are getting rarer I thought I would see if I could get this CPS running on a VM.. Detailed below is the configuration I used.
1. VM workstation 12 Player (This is the free version)
2. Create a new VM, using the default settings from your windows install media( I used Windows VIsta as this was the earliest version I had)
3. From within your new installation run computer manager. Select device manager and disable the floppy disk drive and com port
4. Now select disk manager and shrink your C: drive volume by 10Mb. Select the new unallocated space and create a simple volume and assign it the drive letter A.
5. power off the VM and restart VMware.
6. right click on your VM and select settings. Add a com port and map it to a physical port on your machine. If you are using a USB to serial adapter it will need to be plugged in during this process.
7. Run the VM and check in device manager that you have a new COM part listed (Mine came up as COM2) and a drive called A:
8. Copy the contents of both install disks directly into the A: drive. You do not need the folders called Disk1 and Disk2. Now run the install. Just press enter when asked to insert Disk 2.
9. Enter a name, company and select the com port that is active in device manager.
And that's it. Works fine for me
Good luck
Vista Version
loo far bito
does it has to run under Win 95or 98??
see http://batlabs.com/images/mrib.gif (http://batlabs.com/images/mrib.gif)
For reprogramming GM950 i use same mrib :
BUS+ on RJ45 pin 7 and GND on RJ45 pin 4
BUT… have to add an extra resistor 1KOhm between pin1 and 3 of the RJ45 Mic connector see:
http://batlabs.com/gm350.html (GM350, GM600, GM950, MCX600 Mobiles)
Batlabs GM950 mic to rear prog cable
GM350/GM600/GM950/MCX600 Mobiles
and http://www.batlabs.com/images/gm950.gif (http://www.batlabs.com/images/gm950.gif)
RIB adapter cable for GM950_GM350
Without the resistor i get " not possible to open port" and with resistor "unsupported model/App does not support reading this file " so it checks now the TRX.
I readed that i must run the GM950 RSS SW R02.00.00 in Win95 or Win 98: is this correct? Is GM950 RSS SW R02.00.00 the right version and only the Win XP SP3 wrong? I tried in DOSBox but it does not support neighter.
some one remarks on this question?

This RO2.00.00 now runs ok in 697Mhz Celeron ! Thanks !
Re-insert floppy Disk_1 in FD A:
Then opens DOS-command prompt in XP and go to root C:\ (via DOS-command cd.. & cd..)
Then type " A:"(you are now in root of Floppy Disk-1)
and type "setup.exe":
the GM950 Series RSS windows opens for full install.
confirm location: C:\GM950 language and COM
after a while: insert Floppy Disk 2 goodluck! mike on6jf
I made a word.doc in detail with all steps (see other mails here) mail me on6jf@yahoo.be to receive it free via direct mail(i use DIY Batlabs Radius programmer)
Motorola rj45 handheld mic GMN6121A mods for GM950
GM950 rj45 pins :
-pin 4 (GND): needs audio GND(- electret =Black =5) AND one side of the ptt switch GND(White= 4)
-pin 5 (Mic Audio): needs Mic High (electret +)(Red =4 )
-pin 6 (mic PTT): needs PTT (Green =3)
Good luck
don't forget to connect the microphone audio GND( electret - =Black =5) to GM950 pin 4: otherwise you have no modulation from the electret !(as i had first..)
